Elementary School K-12 Education
Henry Marsh Elementary School.
Richmond, Virginia
The new 750-student Henry L. Marsh III Elementary School is a replacement school that incorporates 21st technology and increased safety measures. The design includes three, two-story classroom wings with individual classrooms for kindergarten through fifth grade. Each classroom includes a dedicated project-based learning area. A large “learning stair” offers additional collaboration area. This project is awaiting LEED certification.
Unique spaces in this school include a day treatment room, speech room, Title 1 classrooms, and reflections room. Core spaces include a cafetorium, which is a gymnasium and cafeteria that can be combined by raising a vertical-folding operable partition. This allows for large-group meetings.
