Joe Graves is a Maryland licensed architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects. He began his career at Gant Brunnett Architects (GBA) in 1997. This is where he spent the entirety of his profession until becoming part of RRMM Architects when it acquired GBA in 2024.
He has designed a wide range of projects including renovation, adaptive re-use, and new construction. Joe has designed a significant number of projects for his alma mater, Anne Arundel Community College, including the Clauson Center for Innovation and Skilled Trades, Cyber Center, and Ludlum Hall. He’s also received design awards for his work on the Lillie Carroll Jackson Museum, which won a Maryland Preservation Award, and for the Women’s Industrial Exchange, which won the Baltimore Heritage Historic Preservation Award.
Joe’s interest and proficiency in architecture started at a young age. He attended a vocational technical high school where he placed first in the state of Maryland for architecture. He was then able to attend the SkillsUSA Competition in Kansas City, where he went on to place in the top 20%.
Joe believes that a lot of architecture is problem-solving. He enjoys working with other design professionals and stakeholders to solve these difficult problems and successfully deliver a project from design to conception. One of his favorite aspects of being an architect is seeing how the community utilizes the buildings and spaces that he’s had a hand in creating and knowing that he is leaving a legacy of buildings.
