Elementary School K-12 Education
Cardinal Elementary School.
Richmond, Virginia
This new 118,901 SF elementary school is designed for 1,000 students. Originally named E.S.H. Greene Elementary School, the new building includes green space, energy-efficient features, and an advanced security system. The design includes three, two-story classroom wings that include six individual classrooms for kindergarten through fifth grade. Each classroom includes a dedicated project-based learning area. A large “learning stair” offers additional collaboration area. This project is awaiting LEED certification.Â
The new building was built adjacent to the existing school, which remained fully operational during construction. Once construction was complete, the existing elementary was demolished and existing site work and improvements were performed. Â
