Little Creek-Fort Story Child Development Center.

The new Child Development Center on Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story is a 36,101 SF design-build project. The facility is single story and contains 26 activity rooms for up to 305 children. As well as activity rooms, the building includes staff offices, a kitchen, and associated mechanical and electrical spaces. Building construction is Type II-B as defined by the IBC and follows the Unified Facilities Criteria and the International Building Code (IBC).
This project provided integrated sustainable design strategies to minimize the facility’s energy consumption, conserve resources, minimize adverse effects to the environment, and improve occupancy productivity, health, and comfort. In accordance with NAVFAC Instruction 9830.1, the facility and all site features were designed and constructed to meet a minimum of LEED Silver certification.
