P-527 Submarine Maintenance Facility.
Portsmouth, Virginia
This project created a new two-story, 24,000 SF reinforced concrete structure located within the Controlled Industrial Area (C.I.A.) of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia. The facility includes an industrial occupancy containing shops, storage, and support spaces on the first floor, with administrative support offices and conference spaces on the second floor. The project also includes construction of precast, prestressed concrete piled structural foundations, and construction and modifications to site features including utilities, paving, and drives.
P-527 Submarine Maintenance Facility is slated to receive a LEED Silver Certification with emphasis on energy conservation. The project features optimized energy performance and environmental controls, water use reduction, reduction in heat island effect, and fundamental HVAC refrigerant management.
