High School K-12 Education
Salem High School.
Salem, Virginia
RRMM initially developed a study to determine needed renovations and additions to Salem High School. The team considered costs associated with major renovations with needed upgrades of certain infrastructure. RRMM designed the project to increase the classroom capacity by 60% with two classroom additions. The new additions will bring a balanced approach to daylighting between corridors and classrooms. The new classrooms will promote learning through collaboration, containing glass-walled “pods” that allow for small group study, student mentoring, and independent testing. This project is currently under construction.
Salem High School’s main façade will contain two new additions that focus on safety and security, while still maintaining a culture of hospitality. Clearly defined entrances for the main entry, gym and auditorium promote access to the community during and after school hours. Â
