RRMM prepared a study to determine if the 9,500 SF existing library could be enhanced by either rearranging the internal layout or by renovating and expanding it. The design team worked closely with library staff to understand the services offered by the library, calculate the currently housed collection and the collection projected to be housed, understand the staffing, and review the current constraints of the library building.
The design team led a community facilitation process to discuss program needs, service needs, design options, and site planning implications. A series of seven options were studied. The preferred option will expand the library, and add program and makerspace, a series of group study rooms, and a young adult area and a senior program room. This design also protects three of the major trees adjacent to the library.
