RRMM designed the initial phase of a three-phase expansion and renovation project for this 42,000 SF community center. Phase 1 included the renovation of the entire facility and the addition of a new lobby, gym, and support space. The project was master planned for future administrative space, aerobics/dance facility, and both indoor and outdoor pools. Significant site work included relocating a bike trail and reworking on-site parking.
To reduce energy consumption, full height windows were provided at each end of the gym corridor so that during daylight hours, there would be a reduction in the need for artificial light. Clerestory windows were also provided in the gym and entrance lobby areas. Vienna Community Center is a LEED Gold certified facility.
