Public Safety
York-Poquoson Sheriff Office.
York County, Virginia
RRMM designed the new law enforcement facility for York-Poquoson Sheriff Office on an existing county-owned site, located near York County’s Public Works Operations Campus. The project created a new two-story, 55,000 SF law enforcement and community service facility. The new building consists of a dedicated training wing, which includes a training pre-function area, simulation training room, multi-purpose defensive training tactics room, and multiple training classrooms. Also included is a separate 4,000 SF logistics support facility, which will house specialty vehicles and mobile command apparatus, workshop spaces, and K9 kennel support spaces. Specialty law enforcement training gear and equipment storage spaces were also included.Â
Additionally, our design team performed simulated security-access threat assessments of the proposed design concepts during the design process. Speciality-access control design strategies were then implemented into the final design concept in keeping with the latest CPTED and CALEA practices.Â
